Scratch Game Design

Scratch Games

Use arrow keys to move in chase. Use arrow keys to move in platformer and spacebar to jump. In freedom use f and j to fight the slime h to heal and use r and u to attack the ghoul.

In scratch I made the game above. It was made in scratch, and was pretty difficult. The user experience was a very important factor  in making this game. One of my friends said it would be cool if the dragon changed when it touched your character. And also a few people said the movement was very cluncky  and I agreed so i changed the movement to slide to make it smoother. Also since we were trying not to make it losable but I was unable so you can lose. Many things affected the game based on the experience of players.

There are several features in my game that my game has. Such as a gravity engine in my platformer or costume changes in my platformer. In my chase game there is no gravity however there is in my platformer. In my chase game there is no levels unlike my platformer game. The platformer game is more complex than my chase for the chase game has a much simpler code. I honestly prefer the platformer over the chase comment down below your favorite game.

One of my most difficult bug fixes was probably recreating my gravity engine after I accidentally deleted the gravity engine. Also I had to try to figure out a fair time for the game. The code on the right looks semi-simple but this was just the timer code, I had to do some crazy stuff guys. One other bug that took me a while to fix was that when I tried to use the paint bucket tool for the flag it would paint the entire screen. This stumped me for several hours and I was so confused but I had a hole in my sprite so I had to re-draw the flag. So yeah this is the last school post for a while because winter break is coming and also last Thursday was my birthday and I turned eleven, So i will be posting minor updates but see you guys at the next post!

Invention Commercial

P3T8_Invention from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

In gt we made a commercial for a product that we made. Our goals were to target our product to our audience (Our class) so they would buy our product. We wanted our device known as the Multi-Read to help with everyday reading issues. It has a light to use in dark areas. It also can be used as a pointer. You as well as being used as a bookmark so you don't lose your spot. So comment if you would buy our product that Tyler, Elijah, and myself built.

Our best team moment was probably when my friends came to my house to help film. We got our filming done we found the perfect lighting and it was great. Also that was where we built the Multi-Read to use in the commercial. Finally after we got all our filming done my mom made cookies and we played video games and it was really fun. One funny part was that Elijah got lost trying to find my house and it was really funny. That was the best team moment!

Tyler, Elijah and I all played a part in creating our invention, the Multi-read. Tyler was the camera man mainly because he said that he was a quiet speaker and doesn't like to act. Elijah was a part actor and a editor just like I was.  We all had our own part to play and we all had a fun time doing it. Generally, we got an awesome grade! We got an A on our project and    we didn't think we were going to get a good grade so it was very satisfactory.

Cracking the Code

You know alot of you guys reading this can guess from the title that my class is learning about code. So I honestly think that everyone should code, it's a great life skill. One of the reasons I think everyone should learn to code is that it can lead to some amazing things from just kinda messing around with a computer.  It's crazy all of the things possible with code!

My first experience with code wasn't with Mr. Sanderl as many of you may think, it was actually at my school in elementary with Mrs. Chung.  When we did our code we got one hour per week and it was difficult for me, but as time progressed I was getting better thus it became easier. In Mr. Sanderl's class since I had already done that before it was a breeze. After we learnt the basic code we learnt  the more complex code such as using a little code to make a mini-game. IT was a fun time and  I think you should try.

I have been planning to talk with you guys about this for so long but now I finally get to talk about it for GT!! I have to talk about a game that I would code/design! So I would make a game that is heavily storyline and uses lots of the adventure aspect. I would call this game "Sky Quarry". It is a game where you find floating islands and mine them in your airship. Also there is an enemy city (Pirates) that want to take your city and it's riches. So that is the basic concept hope you enjoy see you guys later bye!!!

Composition Scavenger Hunt

In class we did a composition technique scavenger hunt with teams and are supposed to chose what we think the most important one is in this intro paragraph, So here we go! I think the most important composition technique is eye level. This is because in this it is good to use for when the subject is speaking or making a profound emotion. Also people in our class mostly understood what eye level was. So this means that it is common and effective, thus making it extremely useful. So that is why I think eye level is the best composition technique.

I think the hardest composition technique was low angle. This is because when we were filming my head wasn't showing and it was shaky from the awkward angle. Also our ants eye was so similar that it was hard to deviate. It was also difficult because I don't think you would find it comfortable to use often. So that is what I thought was the hardest composition technique.

 My favorite Technique

My team includes Tyler Tanaka and Elijah O'Day. Tyler is mainly a silent person and was doing the filming and transitions. Elijah is a more talkative person and was acting as well as making a cuts in the editing. Tyler is slightly shorter than me and fun to have as a friend. Elijah is slightly taller and is also a great friend and is my friend. So that was my team, and I hope you enjoyed this post, bye!
